MIChael cherup
organist – sacred music – music ministry
About ME
I first started playing music when I was in the first grade. I took piano private lessons from a teacher all the way through high school. I started playing the organ in the fifth grade; it was a local academy run by the music director of a Methodist church. I took lessons on a beautiful Orgelbau Klais Bonn organ, and practiced at my childhood Presbyterian church. After a Pipe Organ Encounter at Michigan University, I became fully invested in being an organist. Since then I have obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Music at Capital University and a Masters in Music – Sacred Music at East Carolina University. Creating music for worship has brought me to many places and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon!
Where I have Been
I have been the organist or associate organist at three different churches, two of which are a part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and one Episcopal Church. I have also been the substitute organist for many churches of many different denominations.
